In St. Petersburg, officially launched the V international competition of violinists named Leopold Auer

More than 60 participants from nine countries arrived at the jubilee — V international competition of violinists in the name of Leopold Auer, to compete in the mastery of the tool. The level of performances, the jury was asked from the beginning. In this anniversary year of the contest of applications in the Senior category received so many that the organizers had to adjust the schedule. Moreover, among the Russians only five Petersburgers. The jury also included Alla Aranovskaya(USA), Alejandro Drago (Argentina/USA), honored artist of the Russian Federation Andrey Dogadin, Nina Nikitina and Anna Smith. After a week of listening they will be able to name the winners of the contest. In the final participants will be accompanied by the Youth Symphony orchestra of St. Petersburg. The first violin competition took place in St. Petersburg in 1911 on the initiative of Leopold Auer, and ended with sensation — the winner was the young Mikhail Piastro. After more than a century tradition of the competition decided to continue. Now the name of Auer opens a new names that glorify the memory of the great teacher.
