As The Guardian reports with reference to the publishing house Harper Collins in the UK died the English writer Michael bond, Creator of the beloved Paddington bear, the movie which was released a few years ago.
“With great sorrow to announce that Dr. Michael bond, Creator of one of my favorite British children’s characters, Paddington, died at his home at the age of 91 after a short illness” — reads the statement of the publisher.
Daughter of the deceased writer Karen Jenkel said that her father worked until the very end, and left behind a great legacy which will live forever.
Recall that the first book in the series about a Teddy bear Paddington was published in 1958. The writer took an active part in creating the script for two TV series and one feature film about this character. Except for bear, bond wrote about the detective Monsieur Pamplemousse and Guinea pig Olga da Polga.
Twenty years ago the writer received the order of the British Empire for her contribution to children’s literature.
